Erich J. Tober passed away on April 30, 2026 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A former resident of Ohio, Erich grew up in the Cleveland area. As a child he enjoyed going camping with his sisters and twin brother, Edmund. He was a big fan of rock-n-roll music and loved riding motorcycles and getting new tattoos. When riding in his car, you could expect the blaring of KISS or perhaps Guns n Roses. He was a free spirit, and to feel that when with him was special. With the windows down and music blaring, if you were with Erich, you could sing along and forget everything else around.
In being a free spirit, he was known for his humor. He was someone who always had a smile on his face. He loved to crack jokes and make those around him laugh. He never took life too seriously, which showed in his final months. He did not want tears when visiting, but instead wanted warmth and happiness.
He is reunited in death by his loving twin brother, Edmund Tober and by his father, Erhard Tober.
Erich is survived by his mother, Marie Stephens Brady, and his step-father, James Brady; his sisters, Andrea Britten and Christina Mayle (Ronald); his children, James Polk (Katie), Tammy Tansey (Wayne), and Carina Tober; and his beloved grandchildren, Zander, Gabriel, Rayven, Lily, Calvin, Axle, Silvio, and Marshall.
The family wants to especially thank Erich’s dearest friend, Cheryl Cook, who offered her home and cared for Erich in his final weeks.
A memorial service will be held on May 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church in Santuc.
The family will be at the home of his mother, 2130 Berry Farm Rd., Union.
