Mr. Perry Haney, age 72, husband of Vickie Humphries Haney of 767 Lovers Lane Road, Union, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Haney was born October 10, 1952, in Union, the son of the late Margaret Windsor Rutledge and Bobby Dean Haney. He was a 1970 graduate of Union High School and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Haney retired as Chief Deputy of the Union County Sheriff's Office following a 44-year career in law enforcement, 25 of which were spent at the City of Union in Investigations. He had previously worked at the South Carolina Department of Corrections, the City of Columbia Police Department, and the City of Laurens Police Department. Mr. Haney served as a South Carolina State Constable. He had also worked with Carolina Cash, Graham Cash Co., and most recently retired in December 2024 from the University of South Carolina at Union's Security Department. Mr. Haney was a faithful servant of Christ and member of Sardis Methodist Church where he served as a Church Trustee and a Sunday School Teacher. He also was a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Haney will be remembered by his family as an extremely loving husband, father, and grandfather, who always put the Lord first in all he did.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 46 years are a son, Stephen Haney and wife Katie of Santuc; three grandchildren, Sara Grace Haney, Mason Haney, and Addy Haney; and a sister, Jo Good of Union.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Sardis Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Jeff Farmer and Rev. Roger Shuford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Shaver, Benji Humphries, Travis Robbins, Larry Yarbrough, Christian Humphries, and Sandy Lloyd. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Law Enforcement Officers that served alongside Perry during his many years of service and the Adult Sunday School Class of Sardis Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at Sardis Methodist Church.
