Mrs. Esther Sue Crocker Eaves, age 92, widow of Weldon Lane Eaves, passed away December 2, 2023.

Mrs. Eaves was born in Lockhart, May 1, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Crocker and Mary Esther Kitchens Crocker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Eaves was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church until failing health kept her from attending. She used her many talents to serve the Lord by playing the organ, piano, and directing the choir for over sixty years. She also taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Mary Ruth Vanderford Sunday School class in later years.

She was an accomplished quilter, donating most of her quilts to comfort friends and relatives going through cancer and other times of sadness. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Clemson Extension Quilter's Club. She graduated from Lockhart High School, attended Winthrop College, and graduated from Cecil's Business College. She worked as an Executive Secretary at Lockhart Mill and later at Lowenstein Mills, finishing out her working career at the Torrington Tyger River Plant. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and gardening.

Mrs. Eaves is survived by a son, Timothy Lane Eaves and wife Sheryl of Stoneville, NC and a daughter, Anita Eaves Smith and husband Whitney of Carlisle. She has six grandchildren, Carol Jane Ouzts (Wade) of Union, Randy Lane Eaves (Darcie) of Kernersville, NC, Daniel Lee Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ashley Marie Eaves of Summerfield, NC, Daisy Whitney Meador (Joshua) of Moore, and Hannah Sue Smith of the home. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Harrison Wade Ouzts, Sadie Lane Ouzts, Faith Lia Eaves, Levi Alexander Lane Eaves, Jesse Weldon Meador and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Edward Crocker of Union, William Thomas Crocker of Spartanburg, Doyle Stanley Crocker of Hartsville and Henry Ernest Crocker of Union, and two sisters, Alice Cary Crocker and Nancy Ann Hill of Spartanburg.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Chad Ponder and Rev. Richard Lewis. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Eaves, Stan Eaves, Tommy Eaves, Todd Palmer, Marty Reardon, Steve Crocker, Butch Crocker, Perry Crocker and Ronnie Crocker.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be given to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, 373 Welsey Chapel Rd., Union, SC 29379, or to Carlisle Christian Church, PO Box 35, Carlisle, SC 29031, or to Palmetto Equestrian Therapeutic Riding Program, PO Box 71, Clinton, SC 29325.

The family will be at the home of Anita and Whitney Smith, 174 Tom Kelly Circle, Carlisle, SC 29301.
