Evelyn V. Brown

Mrs. Evelyn Modora Varner Brown, age 87, formerly of Varner Rd., Union, joined her husband, Harold Robert Brown in their heavenly home, Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Mrs. Brown was born in Union, April 8, 1935, a daughter of the late Mige Sylvester Varner and Fuji Nevada Roark Varner. She was a proud homemaker and military wife who traveled the world with her husband. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving are two daughter, Robin B. Bennett and husband Mike of Union, and Chrystal B. Gossett and husband Ronnie of Jonesville; a son, Rev. Tony Brown and wife Carol of Whitesburg, KY; and four sisters, Carol Stepp of N. Augusta, Faith Edland of Greer, Lillie Kirby and Linda Bishop both of Union. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher Bennett and wife Danielle, Tina Gossett, Robert Brown, Jr., Emily Bennett, Bethany Brown and Jordan Bennett; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Loralie, and Sullivan Bennett and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters, Valerie Blitchington, Mary Sox, Vera Beck, Annie Grace Varner and Lillian Thompson; and a brother, Robert Paul Varner.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Heartland/ProMedica Nursing Center and Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Mrs. Brown and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jeff Dean. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Gossett, Mike Bennett, Chris Bennett, Robert Brown, Jr., Jordan Bennett, Jesse Blitchington, Jr., and Mason Bennett.

The family will be at the home of her grandchildren, Emily and Jordan Bennett, 293 Varner Rd., Union.
