October 15, 2015 Mr. Everette Eugene "Gene" McCullough, age 67, husband of Denise Woodall McCullough of Boiling Springs NC, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his home. Mr. McCullough was born in Union, January 16, 1948, a son of Bertie Mae Ogle McCullough of Jonesville and the late George Everette McCullough. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was raised in Jonesville Baptist Church. Mr. McCullough was an accomplished baseball player and avid golfer. In 2013, he was inducted into the Union Co. Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. McCullough and his wife ran a locally owned business, Shelby Cleaners, and he was formerly employed with Fox Distributing and with the Cleveland Co. Boys Club. Mr. McCullough was a veteran of the US Army and served with the S.C. National Guard. He attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons, Lt. Col.(US Air Force) Bryan McCullough of CA and Mason McCullough, who is a professional baseball player employed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in their minor league organization; a grandson, Ayden McCullough also of CA; his step-father, Bobby Bryant of Jonesville and his mother-in-law, Margaret Woodall of Forest City, NC. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, evening October 19, 2015 at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church, 307 S. Main St., Boiling Springs, NC 28017. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Jonesville Baptist Church, 301 Church St., Jonesville, SC 29353. The family will received friends from 10:00 until 11:30 AM Tuesday at the church prior to the services. Burial with Military Honors will be at Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College Ave., Shelby, NC 28152 at 3:00 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Cleveland Co., 951 Wendover Heights, Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
