Frances “Hankie” Gist

March 29, 2019 Ms. Margaret Frances "Hankie" Gist, age 91, of Drugstore St., Buffalo, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Heartland of Union. Ms. Gist was born in West Springs, September 3, 1927, a daughter of the late John Rogers Gist and Maggie Lancaster Gist. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and was a member of West Springs Baptist Church. Ms. Gist was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the Coleen West Circle of the church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are the following nieces and nephew, Patti McNeace and Leslie Cagle who were reared in the home; Carla Elliott of Buffalo and Floyd Heatherly of Union; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at West Spring Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Greg Black. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to West Springs Baptist Church, 4811 Buffalo- West Springs Hwy., Pauline, SC 29374. The family will be at their respective homes.
