Mrs. Frances S. Lawson, age 80, of 697 Vanderford Rd., wife of the late Lloyd F. Lawson for 54 years, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Lawson was born in Union on April 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Inez Grady. She was formerly employed with Milliken and Co., Excelsior Plant and later with Duraco Products. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and was first married to the late Keith Layton Sanders. Mrs. Lawson was a Christian homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends or strangers in need. She loved everyone unconditionally. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Fowler and husband Kenneth George, and Donna Hooper and husband Mike all of Union; two sons, Michael Keith Sanders and wife Alice of Lockhart and Joe F. "Toe-Joe" Sanders of Union; two sisters, Brenda Beheler and Claudia Carroll and husband Coleman all of Union; three brothers, Eugene Holcombe and wife Willie Dee, Wayne Grady and wife Mary Ann, and Steve Grady all of Union; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Sanders (Angie) reared in the home, Kristie Fowler, Chad Hooper (Dawn), Tara Peace (Shawn), Misty Fink (Shawn), Michael E. Sanders (Ashley G.), April Lawson (Mark), and Jimmy Jenkins (Nicole), 18 great-grandchildren, Gage Sanders reared in the home, Devin Ivey, Dylan Sanders, Matthew Massey (Samantha), Austin Hughes, Destiny Sanders, Jordan Hooper, Kaden Lawson, Shawn Peace, Carson Bannister, Garrison Hooper, Caylee Lawson, Hailey Sanders, C.J. Sanders, Ian Peace, Brantlee Lawson, Madison Jenkins and Emma Jenkins; and four great-great grandchildren, Dixie, Brantley, and Ashton Jennings and Matt Massey, Jr. Mrs. Lawson was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Moody, a great- granddaughter, Ashton Hughes and a great-grandson, Timothy M. Lawson, Jr. Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale, Rev. Brain Childers, and Rev. Tommy Mann. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7:00 until 9:00 PM Wednesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Mrs. Lawson's grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as the active pallbearers. Members of the Women's III Sunday school class are asked to sit in a group.
