Frances Erlene Lawson Gowen

Mrs. Frances Erlene Lawson Gowan, age 80, of 1124 Gowan Rd., Pauline, SC widow of Donald Mansel Gowan, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016. Mrs. Gowan was born in Union, SC a daughter of the late Paul A. Lawson and Christine Billings Lawson. She was retired from Cato Corporation. Mrs. Gowan was a member of West Springs Baptist Church and was the former Historian of the Church. Surviving are two daughters, Rushie Sorrenti and husband Larry of Salem, SC and Kaye Belue and husband Dwight of Jonesville; one sister Blanche Gwinn and one brother, Paul Olin Lawson and wife Faye, all of the Mt. Lebanon Community; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Rodney Mansel Gowan and one brother Herman Lawson. Funeral Services will be held, 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Greg Black and Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Lancaster, Darrel Kendrick, Eddie Lawson, Donnie Covan, Larry Bennett, Tyler Petty. Visitation will be held from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM at the church prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her daughter, Kaye Belue and husband Dwight, 1243 Gaffney Highway, Jonesville, SC 29353.
