Frances Marie Porta

July 9, 2016 Ms. Frances Marie Porta, age 73 of 515 Chesnut Knob Rd., Boone, NC, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at her home. Ms. Porta was born in Detroit, MI September 26, 1942, a daughter of the late Vito S. Porta and Rose Catherine Palazzalo. She was a retired cosmetologist and a member of St Augustine Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Anthony Benvenuti and Dana Benvenuti both of Union; three daughters: Deborah Widener of Aiken, Gina Brown of Whitmire and Julie Laws of Union; a brother, Vito Porta of FL; sixteen grandchildren: Travis Gibson, Tana Bobo, Christina Thomas, Monty Paschall, Jr, Amy Lasher, Sean Paschall, Jason Pruitt, Bradley Pruitt, Mary Benvenuti, Ricky Benvenuti, Scott Laws, Jr., Caleb Benvenuti, Calen Benvenuti, Cathline Benvenuti, Catherine Benvenuti and Lana Benvenuti and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church conducted by Father Michael McCafforty. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Josh Freeman. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday evening at SR Holcombe Funeral Home. Ms. Porta's grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman L. Fendley Hwy, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at their respective homes.
