Francis Dudley “Fran” Mcgowan, Sr.

July 19, 2016 Mr. Francis Dudley "Fran" McGowan, Sr., age 82 of 603 N. Pinckney St., Union, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. McGowan was born in Union, July 23, 1933, a son of the late Arthur and Ada Sprouse McGowan. He was a retired business owner and a veteran of the US Marine Corp having served in the Korean War. Mr. McGowan was a former member of the Union Moose Lodge. Surviving are three sons, Francis Dudley McGowan, Jr. and wife Sherry of Union, Michael Ray McGowan of the home, and Jason Michael McGowan of Union; a daughter, Rhonda M. Gregory of Union; a special friend, Tammy Dickard of the home; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. McGowan was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy Wallace and Janet Northern, two grandchildren, Benjamin Mashburn and Kacie Taylor and an infant great-granddaughter. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Hawkins Family Cemetery conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Mr. McGowan will be carried to the home, 603 N. Pinckney St., Union, on Tuesday where the family will receive friends. Visitation will also be held at the cemetery following the services. Memorials may be made to the Union Co.
