Franklin "Speedy" Thomas

Mr. Franklin D. "Speedy" Thomas, age 87 of 710 Monarch Hwy., Union, widower of Marian Gregory "Trudy" Thomas, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Union Medical Center.

Mr. Thomas was born in Union, June 16, 1936 a son of the late Harry and Ethel Davis Thomas. He was a retired auto mechanic and attended Lakeside Baptist Church.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Gwen Linder of Union; a daughter, Cindy Head and husband Robert of Kentucky; three sons, Rickey Rector of Woodruff, Scott Rector of Union and Johnny Rector of Texas; a brother, Harry Thomas of North Carolina; special friend, Irene Abrams of Union and several grand, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Lakeside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Sunday at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Linder, Reed Proctor, Scott Haney and Jason Proctor.

The family will be at their respective homes.
