Fred W. Cooksey, Jr.

February 8, 2016 Mr. Fred W. Cooksey, Jr., age 71, husband of Judy Shetley Cooksey, of 110 Bates Avenue Ext., Union, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cooksey was born in Union, SC on January 1, 1945 a son of the late Fred William Cooksey, Sr. and Mary Craft Cooksey. He was retired from Cone Mill and had been a volunteer Firemen for the City of Union Fire Department and the Monarch Fire Department. Mr. Cooksey was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Karen Kitchens of Union; a brother, Rickey Cooksey and wife Helen of Union; one son-in-law, Glenn Berry; one grandson, Michael Berry and wife Tara of Spartanburg; three granddaughters, Paige Cooksey, Mindy Berry, and Cassey Kitchens all of Union; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Cooksey was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Berry and a sister, Mary Crocker. Funeral services will be held, 3:00 PM Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Ottaray Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Walter Holcombe. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday Evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ottaray Baptist Church, PO Box 70, Union, SC 29379.
