Fredrick E. ‘Fred’ Parks

Mr. Fredrick Earl "Fred" Parks, age 81, widower of Mildred Bragg Parks formerly of Millen, GA, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Mr. Parks was born in Union, May 8, 1938, a son of the late Harold and Edna Chalk Parks. He was retired from the Georgia Dept. of Transportation after 46 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Parks was an avid hunter and fisherman who also loved to meet people. Surviving are a sister, Jo Wood of Union; a brother with whom he made his home, Mike A. Parks and wife Sara Jane; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Christy and Warren "Spike" Stafford of Sylvania, GA; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Billy Fowler of Union and special great-nephew and niece, Jacob Parks and Neely Parks. Mr. Parks was predeceased by three sisters, Joyce Parks, Juanita White and Brenda Ochiltree and a sister-in-law, Jean Crockett. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening March 6, 2020 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Big Horse Creek Baptist Church, Millen GA, conducted by Rev. Maurice Crowder. Memorials may be made to Crescent Hospice, 839 Main St., Buffalo, SC 29321. The family will be at the home, 310 Mill St., Union, SC 29379.
