March 12, 2017 Mrs. Freida Spake Ivey, age 80 of 101 Charlesworth Avenue, Union, widow of Julian H. Ivey, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Regional Hospice House. Mrs. Ivey was born in Pacolet Mills, SC September 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Wellington Spake and Ella Robinette Spake She was a 1954 graduate of Pacolet High School and Cecil's Business College. Mrs. Ivey retired as a legal secretary from Atty. Bruce White's Office and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mrs. Ivey was a loving and devoted mother who enjoyed traveling to the Tennessee Mountains, cooking and spending time with her family. She was also an avid fan of the USC Gamcocks. Mrs. Ivey was a resident of Iverness of Spartanburg, where she was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Ivey Cunningham and husband Jamy; a son, Randall Kent Ivey all of Union; a grandson, Jay Cunningham of Presbyterian College, Clinton; a sister, Evelyn Spake Kelly of Spartanburg; a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Ivey Price of Union and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ivey was predeceased by a sister, Frances Horne and three brothers, Charles, Robert and Houston Spake. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. David Bauknight. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Rusty Price, Jay Cunningham, Mark Haney, Ron Kelly, Brent Greer and Todd Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Union County Shrine Club. Visitation will be held 3:00-4:00 PM Wednesday in the church prior to the service.
