Gaynelle H. Wade

Mrs. Gaynelle Hooper Callahan Wade, age 77, of 201 Hidden Hill Rd., Union, widow of Thomas Vernon Wade, Sr., passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Mrs. Wade was born in Union, August 8, 1939, a daughter of the late Lotus Odell Hooper and Agnes Gunning Hooper. She was a graduate of Union High School and was self-employed as a beautician. Mrs. Wade was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist and was first married to the late Jimmy Dean Callahan. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are a daughter, Luanne Thompson and husband Scott Jarrett; a son, Mike Callahan and wife Sherry all of Union; a brother, Harold Dean Hooper of West Columbia; five grandchildren, Brooke Callahan and friend Andrew Wilson, Katie Henderson and husband Anthony, Richie Callahan, Mikey Callahan and Dillon Thompson and fiancée, Kaylyn Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Meadows, Hailey Meadows, Sarah Hope Henderson, Preston Callahan and one expected in April, Anna-Lee Rose Thompson. Mrs. Wade was predeceased by a son, Rick Callahan and a sister, Mary Ann Kirby. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mikey Callahan, Cyle Coker, Andrew Wilson, Anthony Henderson, Zach Jenkins and Dillon Thompson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at their respective homes.
