George Russell Carpenter

July 3, 2015 Mr. George Russell Carpenter, age 81, widower of Ruby Mae Cartee Carpenter of 125 River St., Drayton, SC, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carpenter was born May 26, 1934, a son of the late Otis T. and Lidith Franklin Carpenter. He was a retired auto mechanic and was a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Carpenter and Barbara Kay Carpenter both of Jonesville; two sons, Ray Carpenter of Mocksville, NC and Kenneth Wayne Carpenter of Spartanburg; a sister, Ruth F. Fowler of Jonesville; a brother, Henry Carpenter of Spain; 11 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Mr. Carpenter was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Joann Carpenter and brother, Lewis Carpenter. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Hammett Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Clint Phillips and Rev. David Fellers.
