George A. Gardin, Sr.

June 1, 2017 Mr. George Alvin Gardin, Sr, age 66 of 443 Tinsley Rd., Pacolet, widower of Elizabeth "Libby" Gardin, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home. Mr. Gardin was born in Spartanburg, SC December 2, 1950, a son of the late James Richard Gardin and Annie Lee Birch Gardin. He retired from J.P. Stevens Plant in Jonesville and was a member of Jonesville Fire Department. Mr. Gardin was also a Mason. Surviving are a daughter, Georgia Foster and husband Jeffery of Hinesville, GA; two sons: James Richard Gardin and wife Nicole of Jonesville and Rev. George Alvin Gardin, Jr and wife Staci of Kellyton, AL; three sisters: Karen Holt and husband Danny of Jonesville; Sandra Freeman of Union and Charlene Dimsdale of Jonesville; a brother, Charlie Gardin of Union; seven grandchildren: James Richard "Trey" Gardin, III, Jacob Foster, Madison Gardin, Stetson Gardin, Joshua Foster, Ayden Gardin and Alyssa Gardin. Mr. Gardin was predeceased by a sister, Judith Mitchell. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. George Gardin, Jr. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Members of the Jonesville Fire Department will serve as active pallbearers. The family will be at the home of his son, James and Nicole Gardin, 445 Tinsley Rd., Pacolet.
