Mr. George M. (Ricey) Kerr Jr., age 65, of 102 Red Barn Road, Enoree, husband of Christy Duncan Kerr, passed away, Saturday August 7, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg.
Mr. Kerr was born July 1, 1956 in Union, a son of the late George Maurice Kerr, Sr. and Sally Shaw Kerr. He was last employed by Walmart. Mr. Kerr had also previously worked in textiles and as a welder and certified electrician. He was a graduate of Bell High School in Bell, CA, AIRCO Tech and Azusa College where he earned his welding and electrical certifications. Mr. Kerr loved his church, Oakbrook Community Church in Jonesville, SC. Mr. Kerr was a Navy veteran who served from 1976 to 1981 on the USS Leahy CG-16. He loved nature and the outdoors, played the trombone, enjoyed woodworking and welding. George served as a scoutmaster with Troop 411 in Maywood, CA. He also loved working with his grandson and two step sons on Motocross bikes and being involved with GNCC Off Road Racing.
Surviving are his wife, Christy, two daughters Jennifer Wiggins and husband Chris of Jonesville SC and Bernadette Anderson and husband Brad of Georgetown SC; two stepsons Josh Robbins and Jesse Robbins and girlfriend Jordain Owens: grandsons Christopher Wiggins and Micah Anderson; granddaughter Ellie Wiggins; step-grandson Bryce Grant. Mr Kerr is also survived by a brother Eric Kerr and wife Susan of Union; a sister Cheryl Watson of Montana; two special nieces Mary and Kendra Duncan: Ann Kerr, the mother of his daughters and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Alan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Randy Burgess. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Wiggins, Jesse Robbins, Josh Robbins, George Pridemore, Michael Burns Jr., Daniel Tannar, Nixon Small and Tripp Jordan.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Jennifer Wiggins, 214 Burgess Road, Jonesville, SC 29353.
