George F. Silvers, Jr.

February 4, 1941 — January 23, 2014

Mr. George Franklin Silvers, Jr., age 72, husband of Linda Gusz Silvers of 3898 Cross Keys, Hwy., Union, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Silvers was born in Union, February 4, 1941, a son of the late George Franklin Sr., and Mary Cope Silvers. He as a graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken and Co., and was employed by Woodruff Housing Authority. Mr. Silvers was a veteran of the US Air Force, a Mason, and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Terie S. Lawson and husband Billy, Jennifer S. Durham and husband Jerry; one son, Randy K. Silvers all of Union; three sisters, Barbara Pridemore and Vicki Grady both of Union and Mechelle McLeod of Greenville; a brother, Gary Silvers of Union; five grandsons, Justin Silvers, Nathan Silvers, Brennen Canupp, Zackary Durham, and Garrett Durham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Silvers was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Silvers. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the services in the chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718.
