Georgia Ann (Steelman) Mitchell

Mrs. Georgia Ann Steelman Mitchell, age 83, of 1817 Jonesville Highway, Union, widow of William F. "Bud" Mitchell, passed away, Monday, December 6, 2021, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Center.

Mrs. Mitchell was born July 20, 1938, in Charlotte, a daughter of the late George Steelman and Azalee Vassey Steelman.  She was a 1957 graduate of Belton High School.  Mrs. Mitchell was previously the Crossing Guard at Foster Park School and had previously worked as a Correctional Officer at Dutchman Correctional Institute.  She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Mitchell and wife Hollie of Union and Todd Mitchell of Wahalla; a brother, Joe Lee Steelman and wife Gloria of Reidsville; three grandsons, Cameron Mitchell of Union, Connor Mitchell of Union, and Tyler Mitchell of Carlisle; a nephew, Alan Steelman; and a niece, Elizabeth Murphy.  She was predeceased by a niece, Sherry Steelman Smith.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses, especially Dot Smith, of Ellen Sagar Nursing Center and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their care of Mrs. Mitchell.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021, at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Bob Cato.

Active pallbearers will be Cameron Mitchell, Connor Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, and Eric DePratter.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of her son, Mark and Hollie Mitchell, 110 Newport Dr., Union, SC 29379.
