Gerald Wayne Baker

Mr. Gerald Wayne Baker, age 70, of 119 Osborne St., Union, widower of Nancy Morris Baker, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Baker was born in Greenville, January 29, 1952, a son of the late Roy H. Baker and Avalene Austin Baker. He was a 1972 graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Baker was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Sharon Baker of the home, Cindy B. Greer and husband, Larry of Greer and Rhonda B. Hearn and husband, Eddie of Union; a step-son, Ron Lybrand of Union; a niece, Cristen Sweet and husband Chris of Greer; three nephews, Brad Greer and wife Harmony, Cody Hearn and wife Michelle all of Union and Justin Greer of Greer; and great-nieces and nephews, Norah Greer, Brady Greer, Jace Hearn, Ty Hearn, Emma, Maisie, and Marlee Sweet. Also surviving are a special aunt, Marian English and a special friend, Cheryl Shetley both of Union.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 10, 2022 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andrew Austin. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Brad Greer, Cody Hearn, Justin Greer, Shawn Peace, Jonathan Henderson and Chris Sweet.
