Gerald Douglas Steagall

Mr. Gerald Douglas Steagall, age 80, widower of Carolyn Hawkins Steagall, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Union Post Acute.

Mr. Steagall was born July 21, 1945, in Union, the son of the late J.W. Steagall and Nellie Ivey Steagall. He retired after 33 years from the City of Union Utilities Department. Mr. Steagall was a Veteran of the SC National Guard having served 39 years. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Mr. Steagall was a Lifetime Member of Union Elks Lodge No. 1321. He was an avid Gamecock fan. Mr. Steagall was an only child.

Surviving is an aunt, Evelyn I. Crocker of Mooresville, NC, and a number of cousins who he was very close to. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Dora H. Ivey and husband Douglas and his paternal grandfather, Giles Steagall.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Scott. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Joe Stepp, Roger Bailey, and past and present employees of the City of Union Utilities Department.
