Mr. Gettes Van Ham of Pacolet, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Spartanburg Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Ham was born in Union, SC, a son of the late Gettes Ham Sr. and Emily Redmond Ham. He was retired from the City of Union, where he had worked as a supervisor in the Utilities division. Mr. Ham was a graduate of Union High School and a member of the Union Church of Christ. He loved working on small engines and could fix almost anything.
Mr. Ham is survived by a daughter, Michelle Watson and husband, Robbie of Boiling Springs, a son, Joshua Van Ham of Jacksonville Beach, FL, another son, Michael Allen Ham and his wife, Crystal of Jonesville, and another daughter, Kimberly Childers and her husband, Scott of Spartanburg. He is also survived by sisters, Shirley Vanderford of Buffalo, Lennie Ham, Ruby Livingstone and Kathy Rohrer, all of Union. Mr. Ham also leaves behind 14 grandchildren. 3 great-grandchildren and Paula Gault, his girlfriend. He was predeceased by brothers Gettes Ham, Jr. and Neal Lovely, sisters, Martha Ann Lovely, Rachel Kelley, Gladys Henderson, Ruth Moore, Wendy Lee, and a grandson, Daniel Blaze Ham.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Shannon Ham at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the services at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Gault, Richard Bennett, Robbie Vanderford, Chase Ham, Gage Ham and Charles Craig. The following are asked to sit as Honorary Pallbearers, Tommy Anthony, Grover Donnelly, Tim West, Tim Roberts and Steve Belue.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, April 24, 2026 in the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel prior to the funeral services.
The family is at the home of daughter, Michelle Watson, 294 Ferndale Drive, Boiling Springs, SC.
