Gilda Sue Lipford

Ms. Gilda Sue Lipford, age 78, formerly of Vernon Foster Rd., Union, passed away Saturday May 16, 2026 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Ms. Lipford was born in Whitmire, April 7, 1948, a daughter of the late George Alex Lipford and Evelyn Lee Lipford. She has retired from Oakmont Nursing Home as a med-tech and had also worked in the kitchen. She previously worked at Quincy’s Restaurant. Ms. Lipford enjoyed crafting with her sister, working in her flowerbeds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Dennis Sailors and wife Tiffany of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Bridgett Nix and husband Daniel of Buffalo, and Cassie West and husband Dustin of Union; a grandson, Trey Sailors of Spartanburg; and great-grandchildren, Micah, Maddie and Raelyn Nix and Leyton West. She is also survived a brother, Robert Earl Lipford of Whitmire and a son-in-law, Michael Gregory of Union. She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin Gregory and her sister, Linda Jo Keller.

The family wishes to say a special Thank You to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, especially her nurse McClain Vaughn and to the staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home including caretakers, Crystal Brewington, Stacie Briggs, Lakesha Gilbert, Hazel Dawkins, Tiffany Clowney, and Kristen Webber for all the love and care given to Ms. Lipford and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will follow at Whitmire Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Nix, Michael Gregory, Trey Sailors, Dustin West, Micah Nix and Mike Bostic.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Bridgett and Daniel Nix, 503 Putman Rd., Buffalo.
