Gilliam Thomas Haney, Union, Sc Jr.

Mr. Gilliam Thomas Haney, Jr, age 54 of 213 Hoyt Drive, Union, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Haney was born in Union, SC March 7, 1960, a son of the late Gilliam Haney, Sr. and Erline Hawkins Haney. He was a graduate of Union High School and was formerly employed with Nestle. Mr. Haney was a fireman and chaplain with the Kelly Kelton Fire Department and had served in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Brown's Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Haney was formerly married to Melinda Walton Haney. Surviving are two daughters: Christy Taylor and husband Bary and Misty Heatherly and husband Aaron all of the home; a son, Jay Haney and wife Renne of Jonesville; a sister, Joan Wilkins and husband Bobby of Pacolet; a brother, Shawn Haney and special friend Cecilia Garland of Jonesville; a stepmother, Lucy Haney of Union; twelve grandchildren and a special friend, Ronnie Swanger of Adamsburg. Mr. Haney was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Haney. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Brown's Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Lee. Burial will be in the Haney Cemetery with Fireman Honors. Active pallbearers will be Jason Bradburn, Eddie Walton, Dennis Knox, Ralph Lancaster, Jason Gossett and Leon Lancaster. Members of the Kelly Kelton Fire Department are asked to serve as the Honorary Escort. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.
