Gina Farmer Ponder, affectionally known as “Mimi,” age 59 of Pauline, wife of Danny C. Ponder, passed away February 18, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Ponder was born in Union, January 31, 1967, a daughter of Elaine Brown Farmer of Pauline and the late Warren Farmer. Gina was a graduate of Woodruff High School and held an Associate’s Degree from Spartanburg Methodist College, a Bachelor’s Degree from USC-Upstate and a Master’s Degree from Converse College.
Gina’s first love was for children and the importance of reading. Her love of children was witnessed as a teacher with Spartanburg District 7 at Jesse Boyd Elementary before retiring after 28 years. Gina spent another 2 ½ years teaching at Union Christian Day School before leaving the classroom. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church where she volunteered in the nursery and during bible school with her husband Danny. Gina loved her University of South Carolina Gamecocks & her beloved dogs.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 23 years, Danny and her mother are a brother, Rev. Jeff Farmer and wife Rebecca Mary; three sons, one nephew and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Norman Band, Rev. Melvin Shelton, Rev. Jeff Farmer and Rev. Jimmie Farmer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Compton, Mark Compton, Chad Farmer, Les Farmer, Don Tucker, Barry Carroll and Otis Hembree. Mr. J.W. Billings is asked to serve as the honorary escort.

The family will be at the home, 6180 Hwy. 56, Pauline.
