Glenn Edward Smith

May 13, 2016 Mr. Glenn Edward Smith, age 94, of 191 Short St., Union, widower of Ruth Bumgarner Smith, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Tennessee on October 15, 1921 a son of the late Joseph Alexander Smith and Jane Green Smith. He was retired from J.P. Stevens in Jonesville and was a member of Sulpher Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are four nieces, Sue Witherspoon of Michigan, Patsy Atkins, of Mooresville, NC, Betty Brown of Union, and Nikki Earley and husband James of Gaffney; four nephews, Michael Smith of Michigan, Joseph Smith of Union, Ricky Smith of Union, and Richard Fuller of Union; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Lida Green, Pearl Lancaster, Mamie Sullivan, and Murt Bryant and three brothers, Jerry Green, Charlie Smith and Sims Smith. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Jeff Dean. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103B South Boyce St., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his niece Betty Brown, 191 Short St., Union, SC 29379.
