Mrs. Gwendolyn Hines Crocker, age 91, of 104 Bridletrail Lane, Union, widow of Raymond H. “Sonny” Crocker, passed away, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at her home
Mrs. Crocker was born on September 8, 1934, in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Houston Hines and Louise Arthur Hines. She was a graduate of Union High School and the former owner of Village House of Flowers. Mrs. Crocker was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union, the Francis Roberts Circle, and the Adult Choir. Prior to joining Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, she grew up in and was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a daughter Donna Crocker Sumner and husband Michael of the home; five grandchildren, Brooke Newell and husband Wes of Charleston, Merritt Segars of Charleston, Lillianna Crocker, Nate Crocker, and Noah Crocker; four great-grandchildren, Brynna Newell, Harper Newell, Berkley Segars and Mac Segars and two special caregivers, Sheri Nash and Jan Dawson. She was predeceased by a son, Monty Crocker; and a brother, Don Hines.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tom Tucker and Rev. Bob Cato. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Wes Newell, Rob Segars, Peter Crocker, Claude Schlagenhauf and Jordan Crumpton.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM prior to the services at the church.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Crescent Hospice for their care, compassion and love they provided for Mrs. Crocker. They would also like to thank her caregivers, Carolyn, Shatera, and Melissa.
