Mr. Horace Keith Vanderford, age 88, husband of Teresa Sparks Vanderford of 574 Vanderford Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026 at his home.

Mr. Vanderford was born in Union Co., July 14, 1938, a son of the late Albert H. and Della Wiggins Vanderford Riley. He was a graduate of Union High School and had retired as Superintendent of Quality Control from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Vanderford was a veteran of the S.C. National Guard, Union Unit.

An active member of Philippi Baptist Church, Mr. Vanderford was a former Sunday School Director, member of the Cemetery Committee and had served his church in many other capacities. He was a former member of the S.C. House of Representatives, a former Magistrate for Union County, and served as Director of Voter Registration and Election Commission for 36 years. He was a 62 year member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75.

Surviving in addition to his wife Teresa, are a daughter, Julie Renee’ V. Kirby of Union; a step daughter Stephanie B. Moss of Spartanburg; a step son Bryan L. Brown of Union, two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a brother, Stanley O. Vanderford of Union. He was predeceased by a sister, Mazel V. Owen and a brother, Charles A. “Buddy” Vanderford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott and Rev. Casey Beaty. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Alfred Belk, Allen Owens, Bobby Horne, Pat Littlejohn, Lynn Moss, Vince Vanderford, Kevin Vanderford and Toney Farr.
