Mr. Harl Leon Davis, affectionately known as “Papa Leon,” age 85, of 135 Forest Meadow Avenue, Buffalo, widower of Edna Kingsmore Davis, passed away, Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Davis was born June 17, 1940, in Union, the son of the late William J. Davis and Frances West Davis. He retired from Torrington & Co. Mr. Davis was a lifelong member of Buffalo Baptist Church where he had previously been the children’s leader, Treasurer, served on the Social Committee, and a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was an old car enthusiast, a member of the Show and Shine Cruisers Car Club and was the very proud owner of a 1957 Chevrolet. Mr. Davis enjoyed coaching Little League and Church League.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa D. Brock and husband Mark of Union; Leon “Moose” Davis, Jr. and wife Donna of Laurens; a sister, Mazel Lee Palmer of Union; seven grandchildren, Bobby Davis (Mandy), Nick Davis (Kaci), Brooke Davis, Allen Davis, Alex Davis, and Kohen Davis; eight great-grandchildren, Summer Davis, Nathanial Davis (Karly), Elizabeth Pruitt (Tyler), Bronson Davis, Gracie Davis, Hailee Davis, Jaxon Davis, and Linden Davis; four great-great-grandchildren, Autumn Mobley, Avery Mobley, Adaleigh Pruitt, and Violet Pruitt; a special niece, Charlotte Ochiltree; a special friend, Ruth Hancock; and his caregivers, LeAnn Jones and Teresa Humphries. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Mr. Davis was predeceased by three sisters, Valerie D. Crisp, Montina Davis Rikard, and Betsy D. Brown and a brother, Elbert Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025 at Buffalo Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lynn Ford. Burial will follow at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery. Members of the Show and Shine Car Club are asked to drive their cars.
Active pallbearers will be Reubin Morris, Jeff Morris, Richie Brown, Jonathan Burnett, Paul Wells, and Preston Gibson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at Buffalo Baptist Church.
The family would like to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of Gibbs Cancer Infusion Center of Union, Spartanburg Regional Heart and Cancer Center and Crescent Hospice for their love and care of Mr. Davis during his illness.
