November 22, 2015 Mr. Harold Glenn Montgomery, age 76, husband of Terrie Henderson Montgomery of 774 Philippi Church Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his home. Mr. Montgomery was born in Union, August 9, 1939, a son of the late Robert Ellie Montgomery and Ida Mae Howe Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was a devoted son, caring for his mother during her last illness. He was a retired textile worker and was instrumental in establishing Kla-Pat Industries alongside Carl Patrick and Tom Clarey. Mr. Montgomery was a lifetime member of the Masons, Lodge #244 and was a Scottish Rites Mason, a member of the Union Elks Lodge and the Union Shrine Club where he had served two terms as president. He received a Master Gardeners degree and a Master Bee Keepers degree from Clemson Extension but was an avid Gamecock fan holding season tickets as long as he health permitted. In his younger days, he was also a certified scuba diver. Mr. Montgomery was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Johnny Montgomery of Union; a sister, Bette M. Stone of Abbeville; a god-daughter, Cheyenne Sierra Gist, reared in the home; two nephews, Scott Glenn Montgomery and wife Lynn of Yorktown, VA and Robert Craig Montgomery and wife Carol of Marysville, CA; a sister-in-law, Cathy H. Bailey and husband Mark Edward of Union; and special friends, Jeffery and Chyrstal Gist, Brittneigh Stribble and Hannah Coffer. Mr. Montgomery was predeceased by two brothers and their wives, Joe Edward and Gladys Montgomery and Robert Fred and Jeannine Montgomery. He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Davis Gene Stone. A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Mr. Tim Svetlan. The following are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:45 PM Tuesday to form the honorary escort: Don and Barbara Davis, Donald Ray Sanders, Gene L. and Brenda Childers, Sherry Nash, Vivian R. Craig, Joyce Toney, Steve and Cheryl Morris, Julian Ivey and members of the Union Elks Lodge and the Union Shrine Club. Visitation will follow the services at the funeral home.
