Harold Eugene Riley

Mr. Harold Eugene "Gene" Riley, age 78, of 129 Pineland Ave., Union, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at his home. He is the husband of 60 years to Marie West Riley of the home.

Mr. Riley was born in Union, April 9, 1945, a son of the late James Herbert Riley, Sr. and Rubye Seigler Riley. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School and attended Clemson University. He was a retired sales manager and also a retired South Carolina National Guardsman. Mr. Riley was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church and was a Mason. He was an avid Clemson Tigers fan. Mr. Riley was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Christy R. Kitchens of Union and Susan R. Gregory and husband Walter of Oxford, England; five grandchildren, Michael Riley Kitchens and fiancée Kentrel Whitmire, Clayton Andrew Gregory and fiancée Abigail Kingsmore, Nicholas Reid Gregory, Patrick James Gregory and Anna Elizabeth Gregory; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Riley was predeceased by two brothers, James Herbert Riley, Jr. and Dennis Riley.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ed Traxler. Visitation will be held immediately following the services.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Christy R. Kitchens, 122 Spruce St., Union.
