In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his three sons and their spouses: Steve and Jenny Simmons of Fort Mill, SC, Stan and Kelly Simmons of Waxhaw, NC, and Phil and Sherry Simmons of Hilton Head, SC.  He was especially proud of his grandchildren: Mason and husband Ben Sanders of Simpsonville, SC, Megan and Weldon Simmons of Waxhaw, NC, and Aden and Alex Simmons of Hilton Head, SC.  He is also survived by sister-in-law, Marian (Talmadge) Simmons and Martha (Gene) Simmons, both of Presbyterian Community in Clinton, and a myriad of nieces and nephews.  He was the last of seven siblings, having been predeceased by four brothers, Talmadge, Allen, James, and Gene Simmons, and two sisters, Evelyn Swayngham and Marian King.

While living in Union, Harold was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 57 years.  He retired from United Merchants in Union after 29 years of service and was a member of the Elks Club for over 55 years.  He was an inveterate worker of jigsaw puzzles and loved to make pens in his workshop.
