Mr. Hayes Fant Vaughan, age 82, husband of Lois Howell Vaughan of 129 South 1st Street, Lockhart, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vaughan was born April 23, 1931, a son of the late Robert "Doot" Fant and Loma Watts Vaughan. He was retired from Milliken & Co- Gilespie Plant and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Mr. Vaughan was a fireman with Lockhart Fire Department for over fifty years and had served as the assistant chief and also as a board member. He had served as a coach for the Little League, the Pony League and the Amercian Legion ball teams. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Gloria Cabaniss and husband Jackie of GA, Renee Ruggles and husband Ronnie of Greer and Beth Cromer of Union; a son, Ray Vaughan and wife Cheryl of Chapin; a brother, Harold Vaughan of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a grand dog, Lulu. Mr. Vaughan was predeceased by by a grandson, Josh Pritchett; a sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tony Cbaniss, Brad Latham, Matthew Latham, Daniel Vaughan, Tommy Cabaniss and Jeff Roberts. Members of the Lockhart Fire Department are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist Church Building Fund, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 129 South 1st Street, Lockhart.
