Hazel Lancaster Thompson Howell

Mrs. Hazel Virginia Lancaster Thompson Howell, age 84, went to be with her savior on October 7, 2024.  Born in Union, SC, Hazel was the daughter of the late Barth and Maud Jolly Lancaster.  She was retired from Torrington Co. Hazel was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as the treasurer of her Sunday School Class and on the hostess committee.  Hazel loved serving her church and her Lord dearly.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, working in her yard, and gardening.

Mrs. Howell was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Ralph Thompson, her second husband Eugene Howell, her brothers Mac Lancaster and John Thomas Lancaster, three nephews, Zachary Raines, Chad Cuthbertson, and Dean Gallman.  Surviving are her son, Ralph Thompson (Jan), grandchildren Joshua Tate Thompson (Beth) of Spartanburg, SC and Elizabeth Thompson Perrow (Stewart) of St. Matthews, SC, great-grandchildren Caleb Thompson, Tate Thompson, Ellie Perrow and Anna Moss Perrow, step-son, Michael E. Howell (Sandra), their children, Jason, Stacey and their families.  She is also survived by her brother Lewis Lancaster (Linda) and her sisters, Louise Sanders, Faye Cuthbertson (David), and Rachel Sumner (James), sisters-in-law, Shirley Lancaster (James), and Louise Grady (Sonny), and her nieces and nephews.  Hazel loved her family and spending time with them.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Inverness at Spartanburg, Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff, Rose Crest of Inman, and Family Hospice of Greenville for their loving and compassionate care.

Hazel's service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Phillips.  Burial will follow at West Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 4811 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Pauline, SC 29374.  Pallbearers will be her nephews, Kyle Cuthbertson, Scott Lancaster, Mark Brock, Brian Lancaster, Chris Sumner, Michael Lancaster, and Kevin Lancaster.  Visitation will follow the burial.

The family is at the home of her son, Ralph, at 107 Eastwood Avenue, Union, SC 29379.
