Mrs. Helen Katherine Youngblood Black, age 84, of 204 Churchill St., Union, widow of Ben Ryan Black, Jr., passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at Union Medical Center. Mrs. Black was born in Union, June 28, 1931, a daughter of the late William "Buster" Youngblood and Virgie Petty Youngblood. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Mrs. Black was loving wife, mother and Nana, who was active in her church and the community as long as her health permitted. Surviving are a daughter, Vickie B. Sloan; two sons, Kenneth R. Black and wife Tami and Ben Ryan Black, III all of Union; two sisters, Norma Olsen of Spartanburg and Brenda O'Dell of Buffalo, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Josh Black and wife Katie and their daughter, Stella, Taylor Black and wife Drew, Emily Black and Thomas Paul Sloan. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt and Rev. Jeff Dean. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allen Black, Earl Black, Troy Champion, Dale Roberts, Donnie Quinn, David Sloan and Kevin Housand. Visitation will be held in the church after the committal service.
