Helen Foster Gist

Mrs. Helen Foster Gist, age 97, widow of Robert W. "Bob" Gist, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Gist was born in Union, April 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Lackey Foster. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended business college. Mrs. Gist retired from Excel Hosiery. She was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a son, Robert W. Gist, Jr. of Elgin; five grandchildren, Amanda Yendall, Adrien Looper, Amber Laney, Alexis Gist and Jed Gist; and eight great-grandchildren, Avery Laney, Isla Laney, Adyn Yendall, Aeon Yendall, Ethan Gist, Claire Looper, Reese Looper and Jacob Looper. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Lee Gist, a sister, Ruth F. Nash and two brothers, Charles and Leroy Foster.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted Rev. Merritt Wentz.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 216, Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Amanda Yendall, 112 Spruce St., Union.
