Henry Edward "Bud" Sanders

Mr. Henry Edward "Bud" Sanders, age 80, husband of Betty Garner Sanders, of 871 Kelly Rd, Union, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sanders was born in Union, SC on December 13, 1933 a son of the late Henry Freeman Sanders and Edna Porter Sanders. He was a graduate of Union High School. Mr. Sanders was a member of First Baptist Church Union, where he had served as a Deacon and was named a lifetime Deacon. "Bud" as he was affectionately known, was the manager of Union Oil Mill where he was employed 59 years. He was retired from the South Carolina National Guard - Union Unit. A Mason, he was member of Union Lodge No. 75. In recent years "Bud" was often seen in Two Sister's Floral and More a business owned by his wife and sister-in-law. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Edward Sanders, Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA; a daughter, Beth S. Vanderford and husband Vince of Moore; two grandsons, who were "Bud's" pride and joy, Nicholas and Harrison Vanderford of Moore; and two brothers, Paul Sanders and wife Becky and Charles Sanders and wife Shirley all of Union. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church Union conducted by the Rev. Rick Pendleton, Rev. Scott Cobb, Rev. Robert Emory, and Mr. Norris Fowler. Private burial with Military honors will follow at Mt. Joy Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Nicholas Vanderford, Harrison Vanderford, Chris Sanders, Rogers Fowler, Ramsey Fowler, Kyle Nance, Trey Arrington, and Bobby Hyatt. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 2:45 Sunday to form the honorary escort, Earl Bryan, Sammy Smith, Brown Fant, James Coffer, Herman Crocker, Kent Garner, Bruce Vaughan, David Becknell, Joe Walker, Kent Smith, Richard Kelly, Bill Wingo, Harold Eubanks, the employees of Union Oil Mill, the members of the Morgan and Strom Sunday School Class, and the members of the Hunt and Fellowship Club. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church Union. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Union, 405 East Main Street, Union, SC, 29379.
