Henry W. Hutcherson

Mr. Henry Wofford Hutcherson, age 89, of Union, widower of Betty K. Hutcherson, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Hutcherson was born in Union, March 3, 1933, a son of the late Oscar Mason Hutcherson and Mae Howell Hutcherson. He had formerly made his home in Gurnee, Illinois. Mr. Hutcherson was retired from the US Navy having served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he worked security with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs as Police Chief. He was a member of the Illinois Police Association, the VFW Post-Lake Villa, the Naval Fleet Reserve Association and was currently the oldest member of the Union BPO Elks Lodge.

Mr. Hutcherson was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a great-nephew, Jerry A. Willard of Union. He made his home with Jerry and his family for the last 7 years. Mr. Hutcherson was predeceased by six sisters, Evelyn Gregory, Mary Eubanks, Hazel Willard, Virginia Toney, Sarah Riggs and infant sister, Helen Hutcherson. He was also predeceased by three brothers, L.C. Hutcherson, Harry Hutcherson and Jack Hutcherson.
