Horace A. Earls

Mr. Horace Alton Earls, age 92, widower of Margaret Roberts Earls, of 674 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his home. Mr. Earls was born in Blacksburg, September 30, 1921, a son of the late Frank D. Earls and Mary Aker Earls. He was retired from Conso Products and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Earls was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII in the Medical Corp. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. of Union County. Surviving are two daughters, Frankie E. Ivey of Union and Joan Williford and husband S.W. of Hickory, NC; a son, Jackie Earls, Sr. of Union; a brother, Floyd D. Earls of Maryland; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Earls was predeceased by two grandson, Billy Blackwood, Jr. and Terry Blackwood, a sister and five brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by President Jay Larson, Mr. Joe Larson and Mr. Milt Fletcher. Burial with Military Honors will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jackie Earls, Jr., Jonathan Earls, Marc Williford, Randal Liner, David Todd and Michael Todd Kirby. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice and his caregiver, Laura "Noots" Alman for all the love and concern they showed Mr. Earls during his illness. Memorial may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 903 E. Main St. Suite 2, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Frankie E. Ivey, 668 Peach Orchard Rd., Union.
