Horace Lee Porter, Jr.

Mr. Horace Lee Porter, Jr., age 73, husband of Betty Brandon Porter of 4498 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Chester, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Chester Medical Center. Mr. Porter was born in Chester, August 19, 1943, a son of the late Horace Lee Porter, Sr. and Edna Robbins Porter. He was retired from textiles and attended Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Porter was a life time member of the Sandy River Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years are a daughter, Holly Porter Hamilton and husband Mike of Hickory Grove; two sons, Fred C. Porter and wife Candie of Monroe, NC and Phillip Porter and wife Theresa of Chester; three sisters, Dane Carter, Joanne Gibson and Carolyn Belue all of Union; two brothers, Edward Porter of Union and Starks "Sonny" Porter of Chester; six grandchildren: Jackson Lee, Jackson Hamilton, Zack Porter, Ashlyn Porter, Ryan Porter and Noah Porter and one great-granddaughter, Autumn Helphrey. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. David Brannen. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 4619 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Chester, SC 29706. The family will be at the home, 4498 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Chester.
