Howard Eugene Goins

Mr. Howard Eugene "Cooter" Goins, age 75, husband of Margie Boulware Goins of 2190 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Union Medical Center. Mr. Goins was born in Union, April 27, 1942, a son of the late David Jackson Goins, Sr. and Lona Esther Johnson Goins. He was a retired textile worker and a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Goins was also a former member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a former member of the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Dept. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Amy Griffith and husband Wayne of Buffalo; a sister, Peggy Goins of Buffalo; two grandchildren, Jacob Ty Griffith and Katelin Amber Griffith all of Buffalo; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five sisters and their husbands, Ruth Goins, Betty Revis, Thelma Brock and husband Wallace, Maggie Millwood and husband Roger, and Addie Mae Greene and husband Lloyd, and five brothers and their wives, David "D.J." Jackson and wife Ruby, Elmer Goins, Bobby Goins, Edward Goins and wife Shirley and Charlie Goins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Roy Turner, Gerald Goins, Jackie Phipps, James Sinclair, Eddie Goins and Stan Ashmore. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, P.O. Box 728, Buffalo, SC 29321. The family will be at the home, 2190 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo.
