Mrs. Inez Hurley Howard, age 94, 255 Harris Lake Rd., Union, widow of Alvin Joseph Howard, passed away, Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home.
Mrs. Howard was born August 31, 1931, in Decatur, GA, a daughter of the late Jessie Alton Hurley and Martha Jane Combast Hurley. She was a member of Jonesville Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Nelda Harris and husband Randy of Union; a son, Alvin Eugene Howard and wife Gwen of Largo, FL; five sisters, Maggie Brinson and husband Roy of Cross City, FL, Agnes Miserak of Bainbridge, GA, Jewel Woodberry and husband Bill of Cross City, FL, Irene Walker of Cross City, FL, and Ruby Harasymtzuk; five grandchildren, Shane Howard, Stamie Carter, Nathan Howard, Alisha Jones, and Xanthe Dotson; fourteen great-grandchildren; and lots of others who affectionately called her “Nanny.” She was predeceased by a son, Steven Douglas Howard; three brothers, “Skeet” Hurley, “Red” Hurley and J.E. Hurley; and two sisters, Dot Morrison and Emma Jean Hurley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Brother Stacy Strickland and Mr. Ken Dotson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
The family is at the home, 255 Harris Lake Rd., Union.
