James F. Barfield

April 7, 2017 Mr. James F. "Freddie" Barfield, age 68 of 401 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his home. Mr. Barfield was born in Union, February 25, 1949, a son of the late Jack Hawkins Barfield and Mamie Albert Barfield. He was a retired conductor after 38 years with Norfolk-Southern Railway. Mr. Barfield also served as Fire Chief with the Monarch Fire Dept. and worked with Union Co. EMS and Rescue Squad. He loved to hunt and fish along with serving as supervisor of Barfield's Timber. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are two daughters, April D. Hall and husband Bobby, and Holli Barfield; a son, Chad Barfield; his former wife, Connie Morris Barfield and his mother-in-law, Rudelle Morris all of Union; a brother, Delmus "Dink" Barfield and wife Sherry of Charleston; and four grandchildren, Justin Hall, Jayda Barfield, Luke Robbins and Conner Barfield. Mr. Barfield was predeceased by a granddaughter, Maycee Barfield and a brother, Jack Barfield, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Lakeside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial with Military Honors and Fireman Honors will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the services Saturday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Rollins, Curtis Eubanks, Tyler Crocker, Glen Ivey, Greg Barfield and Dennis Dawkins. Employees of Barfield's Bulldozing and Barfield's Timber along with Courtney Jennings and Stephanie Sherbert are asked to serve as the honorary escort. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 640 Lakeside Dr., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 401 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union.
