James Crocker

James D. (Jim) Crocker, 90, passed away on February 27 at Spartanburg Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family. He was born on June 10, 1935.

He shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joyce Crocker, and a life full of special family moments.

Jim retired after 44 years as Senior Maintenance Engineer with Milliken, where he was known as a dedicated and dependable man who took pride in providing for his family. He was inducted into the Union County High School Hall of Fame in 2008.

Outside of work, Jim loved spending time at the lake, where many cherished memories were made with those he loved most. He also enjoyed Clemson football and Red Sox baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Randy (Melinda) Crocker and Jimmy Crocker; a sister, Karen (Paul) Inman; and a brother, Larry Crocker. He was a proud grandfather to Jen (Brandon) Roberts, Josh (Lee) Crocker, Jana (Clay) Moore, and Jayla (Adam) Gault, and a loving great-grandfather to Jace, Josie Ann, Jayleigh, Jordyn, and Cameron, all of whom he adored. He also had a special nephew, Ronnie Crocker, who was raised with Randy and Jimmy, as well as many other nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Janet Crocker; two brothers, Ray Crocker Jr. and Barry Dean Crocker; and his parents, Ray and Frances Crocker.

Jim will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family deeply and enjoyed life’s simple moments, especially those spent together by the water.

Funeral services will be held at Philippi Baptist Church on Sunday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Bentley, Stanley Webber, Mike Webber, Mike Allen, Tommy McCollum, and Wayne Grady.

The family will be at the home on 203 South Sixth Street, Lockhart.
