James “Jim” Greer Wilson

Mr. James "Jim" Greer Wilson, age 65, devoted husband of Teresa S. Wilson of 105 Chelsea Ct., Union, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Wilson was born in Union, September 16, 1953 a son of the late Charles W. Wilson, Sr. and Nina Greer Wilson. He was a 1971 graduate of Union High School, a 1972 graduate of Spartanburg Community College, and a 1976 graduate of Clemson University where he received his bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology. Mr. Wilson was retired from the Union County School System where he was an Instructor at the Vocational School and had been active in the Athletic Department for many years. He was an active member of Sardis United Methodist Church where he had previously served as chairman of the Pastor Parrish Committee and on the Administration Council. Mr. Wilson was a former City Councilman and former Lions Club Member. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Catherine Wilson and Jennie Wilson, both of Union; a step-son, Brad Duckett and friend Malesa Benton of Union; a sister, Beth Wells and husband Donald of Union; a brother, Charles W. Wilson, Jr. and friend Edelyn Moore of Union; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two nephews, Donnie Wells and Charles W. "Chas" Wilson, IV. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer and Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John Rampey, Tim Mitchell, Ed Greer, Kevin Morrow, Frank Pennas, and Paul Greer, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Harold Thompson, City of Union Council Members, and the Faculty of Union County High Vocational School. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sardis United Methodist Church, 964 Sardis Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 105 Chelsea Ct., Union, SC 29379.
