Mr. James Marvin Hance, age 64, of 110 Highland Dr., Union, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at his home. Mr. Hance was born in Union, December 19, 1950, a son of Clara Nelle Gulley Hance of Union and the late Eugene E. Hance. He was a 1969 graduate of Union High School and and also a graduate of Gardner-Webb College. Mr. Hance was retired after 30 years from Milliken Co., Cedar Hill Plant and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union. He was a volunteer with the Union County Arts Council and enjoyed camping and hiking. Surviving in addition to his mother are a sister, Claire Hance Cassel and husband Sam of Columbia, two brothers, Eugene E. Hance, Jr. of Union and Neill Hance of Inman; a special friend, Catherine Johnson Varner of Union; nieces and nephews, Pace Cassell, Davis Cassell, Tanner Cassell, Teagan Hance, Ian Hance and Nolan Hance. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Active members and volunteers of the Union County Arts Council are asked to serve as the honorary escort. Visitation will be held in the chapel immediately following the services. Memorials may be made to the Union County Arts Council, 116 East Main St., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of his mother, 302 Glendale Rd., Union.
