James Harrison "Jake" Vinson

Mr. James Harrison Vinson "Jake", age 94, husband of 75 years to Ollie Mae Arthur Vinson of 556 Browns Creek Rd, Union passed away Thursday June 24, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Vinson was born June 18, 1927 in Union. The son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mamie Mitchell Vinson. He retired from the textile industry having work at Milliken and Co. Monarch Plant for 32 years & Torrington Co. for 15 years. Mr. Vinson was a lifelong member of Browns Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Clara V. Steen and husband Bill of Greenville; a son Jimmy Vinson and wife Sandra of Union; five grandchildren, Shayla Durst and husband Tod of Wilmington, NC, Dana Glenn and husband Scott of Greenville, Brook Henderson and husband Kevin, Stephanie Duncan and husband Ray and Michael Vinson all of Union; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a special family member, Sherry Fisher of Union. Also surviving is his brother H.A. "Buck" Vinson , a sister-in-law Sara Sinclair Vinson and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mr. Vinson was predeceased by a son Tommy Vinson; sister, Corrine V. Hart and Gertrude V. Duckett; and brothers, Jeff Vinson, Tom Vinson, J.E. Vinson, and Jack Vinson.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Care and his caregivers, Angie Mitchell, Judy Kerr, and Diane Brock for the care and concern shown to Mr. Vinson and his family.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Brown's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Chaplain Andrew Fisher.

Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.
