James Alvin Lancaster

Mr. James Alvin Lancaster, age 93, of 1812 Main St., Buffalo, widower of Frances Gregory Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Mr. Lancaster was born in Union, April 1, 1931, a son of the late Robert Theodore Lancaster and Willie Mae Lamb Lancaster. He was a 1949 graduate of West Springs High School and retired after 37 years from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Lancaster was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1951 until 1959 as a Corporal being stationed in Germany, Fort Jackson, SC and Fort Bliss, TX. He was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church. Mr. Lancaster was an avid outdoorsman who loved coon hunting and continued to do so until his wife's health declined. He still loved to ride with his grandson and listen to the dogs run.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Mary Beth Bailey and husband Clint of Buffalo; a grandson, Tyler Lancaster and wife Courtney of Union; great grandchildren, Eva, Ellie and Hank Lancaster and Madalyn Bailey; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Lancaster; and a daughter-in-law, Dianne Smith and husband Jamie. He was predeceased by a son, James Myron "Hank" Lancaster; a great grandson, Jase Bailey; two sisters, Ferol Youngblood and Melba Rogers, and two brothers, Alvis Lancaster and Donald Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the chapel prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Neal Elliott, Will Youngblood, Mark Lancaster, Clint Bailey, Tyler Lancaster and Kent Orr.

The family will be at the home of his grandson, Tyler and Courtney Lancaster, 151 Ben Black Rd., Union, SC 29379.
