James W Mcgowan

Mr. James W. McGowan, age 84, husband of Bobbie Belue McGowan of 112 Brookside Dr., Union, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Mr. McGowan was born in Union, September 7, 1935, a son of the late James W. McGowan, Sr. and Pearl Frost McGowan. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken and Co., Cedar Hill Plant. Mr. McGowan was retired from the SC National Guard, Union Unit and was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Mr. McGowan was first married to the late Merlean Farr McGowan.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debbie McGowan Littleton and husband Jerry of Gaffney and Angie McGowan Simmons and husband Tommy of Union; a son, David Crocker and wife Sheryl of Woodruff; a step-daughter, Lisa Knox Haney and husband Chris of Union; two step-sons, Gettys Knox and wife Tammy of Walkertown, NC and Ricky Knox and wife Janice of Spartanburg; three sisters, Lucy Puckett and husband Arthur Earl, Peggy Garner and husband Wayne and Sadie Sumner and husband Roger all of Union; one brother, Jack McGowan of Anaheim, CA. Mr. McGowan was also survived by four grandchildren, Zachary Simmons and wife Erin, Ashley Humphries and husband Todd, Sherri Fipps and husband Trey; seven step-grandchildren including Dylan Lowe and Tyler Lowe and a number of great-grandchildren. Mr. McGowan was predeceased by a son, Lee Brian "Doodle" Crocker, a grandson, Lee Crocker, two sisters, Betty Jean McGowan, and Shirley Helton and four brothers, Roy Frost, Arthur Frost, Ted McGowan, and Bobby McGowan.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2020 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Jarvis.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the services.

The family will be at the home, 112 Brookside Dr., Union and at the home of his daughter, Angie and Tommy Simmons, 514 Toluca St., Union.
